Trekking and Cycling Routes

Lake Como is not only famous for its crystal-clear waters and charming towns, it is also a paradise for trekking and cycling enthusiasts. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience that allows you to immerse yourself in nature and discover breathtaking views, here are five routes you cannot miss:

Greenway of Lake Como

The Greenway of Lake Como is a fascinating route, accessible to all, that winds for about 10 km along the western shore of the lake. Starting in Colonno and ending in Griante, you will pass through picturesque villages such as Sala Comacina, Tremezzo and Lenno. This route is perfect for a quiet walk, with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy a coffee or an ice cream. Along the way, you will admire historic villas, lush gardens and spectacular views of the lake. Don't forget your camera!

Via dei Monti Lariani

For experienced hikers and trekkers, the Via dei Monti Lariani offers an unforgettable adventure. This approximately 125 km route winds along the mountains surrounding the lake, offering extraordinary views and a variety of alpine landscapes. Divided into four main stages, the route can be tackled over several days, with overnight stays in mountain huts and refuges. Each stage will take you through forests, pastures and mountain ridges, giving you a unique view of Lake Como from above.

Spina Verde

The Spina Verde Park, located near Como, is an ideal place for a relaxing walk surrounded by nature and history. With numerous well-marked paths, the park offers trails suitable for all ages and experience levels. Highlights include the Baradello Castle, a medieval tower overlooking the city of Como, and the Sasso di Cavallasca, a vantage point offering breathtaking views of the Po Valley and the Alps. Perfect for a family outing or an escape from daily routine.

Brunate mountain huts

Located above the town of Como, Brunate is known as the 'balcony of the Alps' for its incredible panoramic views. From here, you can embark on a route that will take you to the historic huts of Brunate. These alpine huts, once used by local shepherds, offer a glimpse into traditional mountain life. The trail is suitable for both walking and mountain biking and will take you through beech and pine forests, offering spectacular views of Lake Como and the town below.

Montepiatto

Montepiatto is a small hamlet above Torno that can be reached by a pleasant hike. The path to Montepiatto is surrounded by greenery and offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Once there, you can visit the Church of Santa Elisabetta and the mysterious "Pietra Pendula", an erratic boulder that seems to defy the laws of gravity. This route is perfect for those looking for a peaceful hike surrounded by nature, with a touch of mystery and legend.

Sport and leisure in Como

The area offers many water sports activities, such as sailing, water skiing and classic rowing in the area.

For those who love the sun, the beach and swimming, we recommend the two Lidos of Como located inside two magnificent villas: the Lido of Villa Olmo and the Lido of Villa Geno. Lake Como is located in an exceptional geographical position nestled between green valleys and mountains over two thousand meters high. The best way to discover and enjoy this landscape and natural heritage is to leave the car behind and walk or cycle  along the paths that run along the lake.

Located just 15 minutes from the Hotel Como, guests can enjoy a kart race with friends on the Kart&Go track.

For adults and children we recommend Swissminiatur, it is an open-air miniature park on the shores of Lake Lugano. There are around 130 scale models of Switzerland's most famous buildings, monuments and means of transport.
